Detailed Description of 2 Days Kakum National Park Birding Trip.





Day 1……. Pick-up at location given – Birding in Kakum National Park.




You will be Picked-Up by your expert Birding Guide at the location given, you will visit Kakum Forest, to bird the leading Birdwatching Destinations in Ghana. Kakum National Park, protects Upper Guinea Rainforest Birds, enjoy the famous Canopy Walk which every Tourist want to experience.

The canopy walkway offers Birders an excellent opportunity to see the more difficult canopy dwelling species at close quarters. Upper Guinea Endemics like Brown Cheeked Hornbill, Sharpe’s Apalis and Copper Tailed Glossy Starlings are present here, in addition to Black and Yellow Casqued Hornbills and protects over 60 mammal, reptile and amphibian species that include Forest Elephants, Long Tailed Pangolin, Monkey and many more will be covered for the day.

Day 2…… Your next day will lead you to Abrafo Forest, another section of Kakum National Park. You can expect to see tit hylia, African piculet, forest wood hoopoe, black-casqued hornbill, red-tailed bristlebill, green-tailed bristlebill, western bearded greenbul, brown illadopsis, Puvel’s illadopsis, buff-throated sunbird, Johanna’s and tiny sunbird, olive-bellied sunbird, Ussher’s flycatcher, blue cuckoo-shrike, black and rosy bee-eater, Cassin’s and Willcocks’s honeyguide, Sharpe’s apalis, rufous-crowned eremomela, Bioko Batis, hairy-breasted barbet, western nicator, black-bellied seed cracker, and orange weaver, just to mention few.

You will visit Cape Coast Slave Castle will be visited on the day for some History, to learn about the Slave Trade in Africa if interested, before you make your way back to your drop off location.
